Croatia Our Mission – Living Life Documentary. Filmed back in December 2023, Sealight Films is proud to present an incredible full-length documentary following the work of Living Life Eastbourne, delivering shoeboxes filled with presents to the people of Slatina, Croatia and the surrounding areas.
The Living Life charity is a Christian charity and has been delivering aid to Croatia for over 33 years. Mick Trott and his team of volunteers make numerous visits to Slatina each year and have formed a strong partnership with the Croatian Red Cross in Slatina and its director, Vlatko Jelenčić. Many people, when asked about Croatia, will talk about their stunning landscapes, holiday destinations by the coast, traditional cuisine or the achievements of their football team. What this documentary will reveal is another side of Croatia, which is not really spoken about. Slatina and smaller towns and villages in the North of the country, sadly are still going through the aftermath of the devastating war that took place many years ago. Many buildings in this region are still damaged, with missing structures, have bullet holes in them, have been reduced to rubble and have been left abandoned.
Working together with the Croatian Red Cross, Mick Trott and the other volunteers from Living Life work tirelessly to distribute these gifts to the children. During the filming of this documentary, we see the distribution take place across many different schools, visiting families at their homes, delivering to refugees and distributing to a church group. On this visit from 2023, Living Life brought 1,400 presents from the UK to be distributed. However, while Living Life doesn’t like children to be missed during the distribution, we learn how quickly the pile of presents can go down and why even 1,400 presents are not enough to deliver to everyone.
Their visits are incredibly vital to all the people who live in these remote areas of the country. Discover the journey of why Living Life continues to return to this region year after year to provide aid to the people who live here, and why they need continued support from the public to help them continue doing this remarkable work.
